DISCOVER THE SECRET TO LUXURIOUS HEALTHY SKIN

Our skin acts as the main barrier and plays several vital roles in immunity, thermoregulation, and fluid homeostasis (1; 2). Due to natural aging, genetics, UV rays, and environmental pollution, our skin undertakes several degenerative processes, resulting in moisture loss and wrinkle formation. Since ancient times,Placenta extract (PE) has traditionally been used for skin rejuvenation and vitalization (1), . Oral PE intake is linked to enhanced skin hydration and improved wrinkles, directly associated to healthy skin (1, 2; 3).

BIOFAC’S LUXURY PLACENTA COSMETIC

By taking advantages of our 75 years of expertise in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, BIOFAC produces the highest quality luxurious Placenta Cosmetic on the market, as it comprises:

ORAL INTAKE OF PLACENTA EXTRACT PROMOTES SKIN REGENERATION

Research shows that PE significantly enhances skin hydration, which is vital for maintaining barrier function and reducing wrinkle development (1; 2), see Fig. 1.

PE and skin hydration

In vivo studies revealed that mice given oral PE for 12 weeks had a higher trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) value (5; 6). In humans, oral PE intake of 200 mg/day led to significant improvements in skin hydration and reductions in TEWL at 4, 8, and 12 weeks compared to baseline and placebo values (2).

PE and wrinkle reduction

Oral intake of PE (200 mg/day) significantly reduces wrinkle formation at 12 weeks; both total wrinkle area and wrinkle area % values significantly decreased compared to baseline in healthy adults (1).  PE also inhibits genes involved in collagen degradation (e.g., MMP-2, MMP-9) and promotes expression of tissue inhibitors (TIMP-1, TIMP-2), enhancing collagen synthesis and reducing its breakdown, essential for tissue strength (1; 6). Additionally, PE influences fibroblast activity and ceramide synthase expression levels, related to collagen synthesis (4; 5).

The effect of oral PE and skin hydration and wrinkle reduction

The effect of BIOFAC Placenta Cosmetic on skin hydration and wrinkle reduction may relate to collagen synthesis and degradation, as well as to the content of bioactive and anti-inflammatory components in PE, such as proteins, lipids, hormones, cytokines, growth factors, glycosaminoglycan, nucleic acids, vitamins, and minerals (1;6). Additionally, PE also promotes several wound healing processes (7), which may also be linked to its effect on skin health.

  • Increased expression level of ceramide synthase in epidermis
  • Fibroblast generation and differentiation in dermis involved in collagen expression
  • Lowering of MMP-2 and MMP-9 mrna involved in degradation of collagen

Storage and Stability

Placenta should be stored in original and tightly closed containers at room temperature (not exceeding 25°C). Placenta Extract powder grade is a very hygroscopic product that easily absorbs humidity from the air. Retest date is 2 years from date of production if stored as advised above.

Regulatory Compliance

  • GMP certified by the strictest Danish quality and medicine agency.
  • All biological raw materials utilized at the factory have been veterinary controlled and fulfil EU requirements. Danish
Environmental Protection Agency (Danish EPA) has made a categorization of BIOFAC as to an instruction No. 6 of 2004
on Differential Environmental Review and assessed that BIOFAC is classified as Category 1 (the best category) because
of the high level of systematism and high level of regulatory compliance.

  • Danish Working Environment Authority has assigned BIOFAC with a green Smiley, indicating that BIOFAC
has no issues with the Working Environment Authority, providing a high level of health and safety.
