Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA)
With more than 70 years’ of manufacturing expertise, BIOFAC is a reliable supplier of various BSA grades in bulk quantities to loyal customers around the world.
A BIOLOGICAL BLOCKING AGENT
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) is a protein derived from bovine plasma. It is a small and stable protein with non-reactive effects, which is the reason for its use as a protein standard in numerous applications in immunology, biochemistry, and biotechnology. As BSA binds to non-specific binding sites, thereby facilitating the antibody coupling with the antigens of interest, BSA is used in immunohistochemistry, ELISA, and Western Blotting applications. Additionally, BSA can be used as a stabilizer and as anutrient to support cell and microbial growth in culture media.
BIOFAC’S BOVINE SERUM ALBUMIN
By taking advantages of our 75 years of expertise in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, BIOFAC produces a wide variety of BSA grades for your research and manufacturing needs:

BSA D Stripped (IgG-free) | Cell culture, molecular biology, stabilizing protein |
BSA F Low Endotoxin | Cell culture, carrier protein |
BSA G Protease free, low endotoxin, and IgG free | Sensitive Immunoassays, ELISA, immunoblots, immunohistochemistry, stabilizing protein |
BSA I Fatty Acid Free | Cell culture, molecular biology, detection techniques, protein chemistry |
The role of BSA in Skin Care and cosmeceutical
BSA is also known to play a role as a structural integrity in the manufacturing of cosmetics. In addition, BSA has shown to interact with hyaluronic acid and attract water to maintain moisture content, thereby enhancing skin elasticity¹. Therefore, BSA can be used as an active ingredient in cosmetics for improving skin conditions, such as skin regeneration, wound healing, and wrinkle improvements¹.
In combination with BIOFAC’s cosmetic grade products, such as Collagen and Elastin products, BSA can have a wide variety of excellent effects in preventing and/or treating skin disease.
Storage and Stability
BIOFAC BSA grades should be stored in original and tightly closed containers at room temperature (not exceeding 25 °C). Retest date is 2 years from date of production, if stored as advised. All products are primarily packed in approved-, light- and airtight aluminum bags followed by fiber drums.
